The Long Island Railroad received overall "C" grades from its riders in the LIRR Commuter's Council annual survey for the eighth consecutive year. Last year, 49% of riders said the railroad was improving: this year, only 35% said it was getting better. Lowest grades were given for
management performance. Meanwhile, MTA Long Island Bus and Nassau County forums on bus service found that aging buses, high fares and inconvenient routes were the most common reasons cited for why more Long Islanders don't use the buses. (Newsday)
