Fort Lee, NJ made good on its promise to block local access roads to the George Washington Bridge Tuesday, Nov 1, when an accident in NYC backed traffic up across the bridge and motorists began cutting through local streets. As reported here October 26, Fort Lee is trying to win

compensation from the Port Authority for the extra police, road maintenance and insurance it says it bears because of the presence of the bridge. The Tri-State Transportation Campaign has sent Fort Lee Mayor Jack Alter examples of its cost-of-driving research, and asked to see how the town has

calculated its claims against the Port Authority. (VY Times)
