Measure On Transportation Unit Now Goes To Senate
Washington, July 7 (UPI) – The House yesterday unanimously passed legislation permitting New York and New Jersey to work together to set up better transportation for persons who live in Jersey and work in New York City.
The resolution, which now goes to the Senate, would grant Congressional consent to an interstate compact under which the New York-New Jersey Transportation Agency was created 2 months ago.
The new agency is charged with preparing an interim and long-range plan for improving commuter transportation across the Hudson River.
The House-passed resolution reserves the right of Congressional committees to require the agency to supply them with full information about its operations.
