A symposium on the Metropolitan Rapid Transit Commission’s report on the proposed $400,000,000 transit loop will be held at noon Oct. 29 in the grand ballroom of the Sheraton-Astor Hotel, New York.
It will be under the auspices of the Transportation Section of the New York Board of Trade. Participants in a panel discussion will be Charles L. Patterson, chairman of the New York City Transit Authority; Herman T. Stichman, Hudson and Manhattan Railroad trustee; Earl T. Moore, president of the Central Railroad of New Jersey; Frank Simon, secretary of the Metropolitan Rapid Transit Commission and Herbert Potterton, transportation manager of Public Service Coordinated Transport.
Morris Pesin, chairman of the rapid transit study committee of the Jersey City Merchants Council, plans to attend as an officer of the organization and as a taxpayer. He has not been invited. He hopes to be given the floor so he may present the viewpoint of the Jersey taxpayer and businessman on the plan.
The purpose of the symposium, according to A. E. Baylis, chairman of the transportation section of the board of trade, is to provide complete information on the problem and the suggested remedy. He urges businessmen in particular to attend.
“I shall attend to see if I can lend something to the proceedings which will benefit Jersey,” Pesin said. “I hope to be allowed the floor. I am afraid everything is going to be New York for New York. In my opinion the plan is all one-sided with New York getting all the benefit from it. I shall ask if I am allowed what Jersey is going to get out of it since she will have to help pay for the plan.”
